Climate Finance Access Network

This session will delve into the unique challenges faced by the Pacific region in the energy sector, such as outdated infrastructure, geographical constraints, and heavy reliance on imported fuels, which result in unreliable electricity supply and high costs. It will align with Dimension 1 of the Global Green Growth Week (GGGWeek) by showcasing the collaborative efforts of GGGI and its partners to enhance access to renewable energy in the Pacific. The session will highlight innovative solutions and best practices from various stakeholders, including governments, donors, and regional entities, aimed at increasing renewable energy generation and access. Through a panel discussion involving key players like Australia, Canada, GGGI, RMI, SPREP, and SPC, the session will explore climate finance and partnership models to support a sustainable energy transition in the Pacific. Additionally, it will align with GGGWeek’s theme of “green economic opportunities” by presenting national policies, such as Fiji’s National Energy Policy, that drive investment in renewable energy and demonstrate the link between policy and tangible investment opportunities in countries like Fiji and Vanuatu.
