Green Growth in the Time of Uncertainty

Amid growing international security risks and conflicts, the session will provide direction, advice, and policy guidance for Green Growth initiatives within peace and governance programs. The session will also address the expanding register of risks—political, economic, human rights, climate change, etc.—which negatively impact vulnerable communities, leading to loss of revenues, incomes, savings, assets, and GDP, thereby exacerbating cycles of violence, conflict, and democratic deficits. In line with these efforts, a panel discussion moderated by Heloise Heyer and Paula Gutiérrez will explore policy and strategic insights on environmental action, sustainable development, and green transitions to prevent conflict escalation and promote social cohesion. Six speakers, including Geeta Batra, Janet Edmond, Tracy Hart, Carl Burch, Malle Fofana, and Dethie Soumare, will contribute to the discussions, with participants able to engage via chat during the 1.5-hour session.
