Addressing climate change and transitioning to a green, low-carbon future is crucial for sustainable development worldwide. As part of the 2024 KPI to “Support GGGI Member States to prepare green BRI investment projects that can be (co-)financed by China’s Belt and Road Initiative”, this session aims to bring Chinese financial institutions and potential investors and Ministers from some of GGGI’s member states to discuss how we could leverage additional resources from Chinese partners to ensure translating potential investment project opportunities into reality. This session also offers investors a chance to speak openly to the policy makers on key investment obstacles they are facing at the time of uncertainty and the overseas investment strategies they are putting forward in our member states. Ensuring greener investments under the Belt and Road Initiative is also essential for promoting green growth and investments across many of GGGI’s member states over the next decade. This session will highlight GGGI’s distinct comparative advantage in supporting project origination and enabling green investment and financing from Chinese institutions in GGGI’s member countries.
