- AKCF: ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (10:45 AM – 11:40 AM)
KGNDF CONTEXT
The fund, established through a collaboration between GGGI and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea, is at the forefront of facilitating a global green transition. This initiative goes beyond conventional green growth, emphasizing transformative changes towards sustainable and inclusive economic models. KGNDF has allocated $9.56 million across 46 projects, distributed through three operational windows: Bankable or Sustainable Project Development, Green Climate Fund Project or its Equivalent Project Development, and Policy and Regulatory Framework and Capacity Building Development. The fund’s environmental impact includes a substantial reduction of over 28.4 million tons of CO2-equivalent emissions, demonstrating a strong commitment to climate change mitigation.
AKCF CONTEXT
The ASEAN Korea Cooperation Fund, launched in 1990 to strengthen ASEAN-ROK relations, has supported more than 400 projects aimed at fostering regional development and cooperation. In this session, ROK MOFA will provide a comprehensive overview of the AKCF, including its application process, portfolio, key achievements and contributions. GGGI will then present its Methane project funded by AKCF, sharing the project overview and lessons learned from the proposal stage. This session will serve as a platform to deepen understanding of AKCF’s contribution and facilitate knowledge sharing on how to effectively engage with the fund.
