Since the signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, countries have gained experience in dealing with Nationally Updated Contributions (NDC). Whereas developing the NDC documents has become more detailed and sophisticated, translating the NDC targets into action has remained the major challenge due to constraints in terms of finance and capacity. For the third generation of NDCs, it will be key to enhance the methods applied in a way to bring them closer to implementation, particularly in view of the economic headwinds that low-income countries are currently facing.
The session will discuss the experiences, lessons learned, challenges, and opportunities for NDC 3.0 based on examples of NDCs, LT-LEDS, and green growth strategies in Ethiopia, Zambia, Lao PDR, and Tonga.
