In this session on Sustainable Transport for Green Transition, we will explore three innovative initiatives from different regions. Kenya’s integration of electric motorcycles into Nairobi’s urban transport system aligns with the Global Green Growth Week 2024 theme, focusing on efficient resource use, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering economic opportunities, particularly for women through the “Her Go” initiative. The Nepal Country Office’s roll-out of 3,500 electric mini buses powered by clean hydro-based electricity emphasizes a digital ecosystem to enhance service delivery and safety while promoting gender inclusion by targeting new women drivers. Additionally, we will delve into sustainable transport solutions for Pacific Island Countries (PICs), highlighting unique challengesand opportunities for green growth, including lessons from GGGI and the World Bank’s innovative mobility approaches. This interactive session will facilitate knowledge sharing and provide insights to enhance global support programs for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
