H. E. Ban Ki-moon was unanimously elected as the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute to help GGGI Member States adopt the green growth model—environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive—of development. In addition to GGGI, he serves as Chairman of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation, Chair of the Boao Forum for Asia, and CoChair of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens.
Previously, Mr. Ban served two consecutive terms as the Eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations from 2007 to 2016. During his 37-year career as a diplomat of the Republic of Korea, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President, Chief National Security Advisor to the President, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister for Policy Planning, and Director-General for American Affairs. He holds a BA in International Relations from Seoul National University and MA in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Sang-Hyup Kim became Director-General of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) on January 1, 2025, returning to the organization he helped establish in 2012. His 40-year career spans media, academia, and policymaking, dedicated to sustainable development and climate action.
He previously co-chaired Korea’s Presidential Commission on 2050 Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth and has advised KAIST, where he also serves as Visiting Professor. He was President of the Jeju Research Institute, Director of KAIST’s Center for Sustainable Development, and founder of the Coalition for Our Common Future, alongside numerous national and regional leadership roles.

H.E. AbdulAziz Ahmad Al-Mahmoud is Undersecretary at in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in the State of Qatar . He started his career in 2007 with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), where he worked in various fields such as electricity transmission network planning, system operations and control, and long-term power generation and water desalination planning, as well as business development and R&D.
He was seconded to the National Planning Council (previously the Planning and Statistics Authority) in September 2022 to be the project manager of the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3).
He received his B.Sc. from Qatar University in Electrical Engineering and his M.Sc. in Electrical Energy Systems from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.
His interests include sustainability, renewable energy and storage, strategic planning, and public policy.

Minister, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Uganda

His Excellency Dr. Ayman Abdullah Suleiman brings a distinguished career of over two decades in environmental management and marine conservation to his role as Jordan’s Minister of Environment.
Dr. Suleiman’s academic background provides a robust foundation for his work. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics from Yarmouk University (1993), a Master’s degree in Environment from the National University of Malaysia (1997), and a Ph.D. in Environment from the University of Malaya in Malaysia (2002).
Prior to his ministerial appointment, Dr. Suleiman held several key leadership positions within the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), demonstrating a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship in the vital port city of Aqaba. His senior roles include:
Commissioner of Environmental Affairs and Protected Areas (2023 – 2025), Director of the Strategy Implementation Unit (2021 – 2023), Director of the Environment Directorate and Aqaba Marine Park (2018 – 2019), Director of the International Laboratories Directorate in Aqaba (2008 – 2014)
His extensive experience encompasses the development and implementation of environmental strategies, the protection of marine life, and the management of protected areas. Dr. Suleiman has also represented the Kingdom in significant regional cooperation programs, such as the Interreg Next Med, further solidifying his role in international environmental dialogue. With his profound expertise and proven leadership, His Excellency is exceptionally positioned to guide Jordan’s environmental policies and initiatives

Mr. Keeyong Chung was appointed as the Ambassador and Deputy Minister for Climate Change at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, effective October 7, 2024. In this capacity, he serves as Korea’s chief negotiator for the UNFCCC Paris Agreement. Prior to this role, Ambassador Chung was appointed as the Special Representative for the Indo-Pacific in February 2024, where he worked to strengthen Korea’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region and enhance strategic communication and cooperation with key countries both in the region and globally.
A career diplomat since 1993, Ambassador Chung has played a leading role in the Korean government’s efforts on a broad range of issues, including the ROK-US alliance, maritime delimitation and state responsibilities, and climate change. He previously served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Morocco (July 2021–February 2024), Director-General for Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Scientific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (September 2019–July 2021), Director of Governance at the Global Green Growth Institute (September 2016–September 2019), and Director of the International Legal Affairs Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (July 2011–July 2013). He has also served in the Korean embassies in Washington D.C., Tokyo, and Sofia.
Ambassador Chung holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an LL.B. from Seoul National University.

The Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Kamal Rohitha Uduwawala is a SLAS Special Grade Public Service officer who qualified with B.Sc. (Special) Degree in Physics, University of Peradeniya (1990-1994) and a Master in Organizational Leadership from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia (2007-2008).
His research qualification is the design and construction of a “SIMPLE DIGITAL ELECTRONIC VOTE COUNTER” (No.11054) with the patent granted on 27.02.1997 by the Registrar of Patent and Trademarks.
He was the Secretary, State Ministry of Production, Supply & Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, Additional Secretary, Ministry of the Education, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils & Local Government, Ministry of Higher Education, Technology & Innovation. Furthermore, he served as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Accreditation & Quality Assurance (SCAQA) for Higher Education Institutes (2018/2019), and Add. Director General, Department of Management Services, General Treasury.

Dr. Malle Fofana is the Regional Director for Asia and Officer-in-Charge (OIC) for the Deputy Director-General for Green Growth Implementation at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Dr. Fofana has more than 22 years of professional experience in the development and private sectors, specializing in resource mobilization, project development, and implementation. He supports the Green Growth Transition of GGGI’s member countries in Asia — from policy to investment — by working closely with governments, the private sector, financial institutions, multilateral development banks (MDBs), and impact investors.
Prior to joining GGGI, Dr. Fofana served as Managing Director at leading management consulting firms, focusing on development issues in Africa. In these roles, he defined, led, and implemented a wide range of economic and social development initiatives across the continent. He has contributed to over 100 projects in key sectors, collaborating with major donors as well as private sector partners in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

San Vanty currently is the Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment of the Kingdom of Cambodia. and He also former Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and was born in 1967 in Phnom Penh, the Capital City of Cambodia. Excellency gained Master’s Degree from Khon Kaen University of Thailand. Before holding the position of Secretary of State in April, 2023, Excellency has held a prominent position as Under Secretary of State of MAFF for many years, who has overseen the international cooperation affairs, including the bilateral and multilateral dialogues and discussion for the agreements and MOUs with many countries and donors. Excellency also has been playing a vital role within ASEAN and GMS collaboration framework for agriculture.
