Bioeconomy: consolidating green growth in the LAC region

Overview:

In this session, the role of bioeconomy for the preservation of forests and biodiversity and on how it can be effectively scaled-up will be discussed. Data and diagnosis to show the economic opportunity for countries in the region will be presented, and the role of bioeconomy on climate change adaptation will also be discussed. Practical examples showcasing the wide range of solutions that can be developed through the sustainable use of biodiversity will be presented. The barriers and challenges preventing the scaling up of the bioeconomy will be explored and possible solutions to attract investment and technology will be discussed. The role of the private sector and of mechanisms such as public-private partnerships will be explored.
