Overview:

GGGI developed and first published the Global Green Growth Index in 2019. The Index measures country performance on achieving sustainability goals that support nature-based solutions and enhanced adaptation capacities. Its framework emphasizes four dimensions that are linked to green growth transition including efficient and sustainable resource use, natural capital protection, green economic opportunities, and social inclusion.

In addition to Global Green Growth Index, GGGI collaborates with government and international partners to apply the green growth framework of the Index at the regional and national levels. In 2021, GGGI and the OECS Commission developed the framework for Green-Blue Growth Index for the OECS region and assessed the performance in three OECS countries including Saint Lucia, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In 2022, GGGI and the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment of Zambia are designing a National Green Growth Index to support the development of its National Green Growth Strategy.

In collaboration with the OECS Commission and the Zambian Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, this session will present the results of these collaborations, explaining the approaches used to develop the indices, sharing experiences in the development process, and highlighting the opportunities to use them to guide green growth transition.
