Clean Energy Transition: Unleashing the Potential of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia
Date: Oct 25, 2022
Time: 16:00 to 17:30 (KST/GMT+9)
Overview:
The global energy landscape is changing. Climate change net-zero commitments, and national energy security are disrupting the fossil fuel-based world order and accelerating the shift to alternatives such as Green Hydrogen. Green Hydrogen could account for up to 12% of global energy use by 2050. Major economies are developing policy initiatives, technology, manufacturing capacities, and export facilities to promote Green Hydrogen/ammonia value chains. Steel, chemical, cement, shipping, transportation, refinery, fertilizer, among others are the target sector for Green Hydrogen interventions. However, commercial affordability, limited storage and transportation capacity, lack of demand supply structure, among other are the major barriers for the development of enabling ecosystem.
The session will have a broad overview of GGGI’s Global Green Hydrogen projects ongoing in India, Indonesia, Morocco, Nepal, and Malaysia. The session will have insights from policymakers, technology developers, utilities, and financing institutions, on various challenges and opportunities for the growth of Green Hydrogen globally and locally. This session will also look at the various policy, technology, operation, and financing aspects of the ecosystem. Speakers will deliberate on policy incentives available/required to promote Green Hydrogen; upcoming technological interventions to make Green Hydrogen commercially affordable; market development through local and global demand and supply chain; interoperability of existing infrastructure to store, transport, and utilize Green Hydrogen; and mobilize public/private sector investment backed by innovative business models and financing mechanisms.
