Overview:

The findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report undoubtedly points to the irreversible disaster our earth is facing. The Global Green Growth Institute’s President & Chair, H.E. Ban Ki-moon, has been constantly and consistently raising questions with world leaders to take more ambitious climate actions. There are too many initiatives and commitments at global, regional, national, and decentralized levels around the world. Alarmingly, most of them are not ambitious enough to create substantial change and be game changers. The next seven years are our best “window of opportunity” to focus on bold, transformative changes that will define our futures.

In this context, the Ministerial Panel Discussion session is hosted at the margins of GGGI’s Council and Assembly joint sessions and provides the appropriate forum to strategic views on how to achieve green transformation of GGGI Member States and Partner countries. The session features Special Remarks by GGGI Member State Ministers and Representatives. The session will focus on: Part 1: Where does the world stand in its green transformation? Part 2: Where should our contributions focus on to fast-track climate action and just transition? What are the Big Deals for COP28?
