Overview:

Bridging the green skills gap through technical education and green technologies is essential for preparing the workforce to play a central role in achieving environmental sustainability, addressing climate change, and fostering economic growth. This session will introduce the concepts of green skills and green occupations in Pakistan and Nepal. It will emphasize the importance of collaboration between educational institutions, government bodies, and industry stakeholders for greening industry trades and help close the green skills in South Asia. It will showcase success stories and best practices for the successful implementation of education initiatives in Pakistan to develop green skills at the technical education level. In addition, it will present green technologies for small and medium enterprises with the potential to green certain industrial occupations in Nepal. The session will highlight the alignment of green skills and green technology development efforts with the country’s national goals, such as the Climate Change Policy and the commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
