Overview:

Africa’s agriculture sector has a vast potential and climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is recognized as a key climate adaptation strategy with mitigation co-benefits in 94% of Africa’s NDCs. This session will focus on climate-smart agriculture and nature-based solutions, an approach for transforming and reorienting agricultural systems through efficient use of resources to support food security under the dynamic realities of climate change. This underlines the importance of building evidence to identify viable adaptation with mitigation co-benefit options, value propositions and necessary enabling environments for effective implementation. This session will draw on lessons learned from various ongoing projects in the continent in providing evidence-based solutions to increase climate resilience in the agricultural food system. Presenters will provide information and highlight examples of best practices and effective solutions. The goal is also to undertake in-depth discussion on developing new opportunities and to mainstream CSA & nature-based solutions to transform a country’s agriculture sector into a more productive, climate-resilient, and low-emissions sector.
