Overview:
Long-term climate strategies are essential to coordinate emission reductions, climate adaptation, and environmental protection. GGGI is actively working on LT-LEDS (Long term – Low Emission Development Strategies) to achieve our vision of a low-carbon resilient world of strong, inclusive, and sustainable growth. The session will present the lessons learned from the LT-LEDS recently finalized by Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands and discuss the opportunities and challenges moving from strategy development and planning to actual implementation. In addition, the session will also present results on financial needs of the climate action under LT-LEDS and discuss options for financing and mobilizing international climate and private finance. The session also aims to discuss different perspectives of LT-LEDS implementation including governments from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Lao PDR, and donors and organizations that provide technical assistance. In this context the session will also discuss opportunities for vertical integration of LT-LEDS implementation.
